Dynamites begin with a win

The last match of APL-6 first super sunday was played between Aananda Dynamites and Aananda Invincibles.

Invincibles after winning the toss, decided to bat first. Captain Deepak Aster opening with Sumit Sharma had a cautious start and the two added 11 in first 2 overs.

After that, some good tight bowling by Dynamites, led by captain Jitendra Bisht restricted Invincibles to only 22 in their 8 overs. Jitendra Bisht was the pick of the bowlers bowling his two overs for just 2 runs and picking up 2 wickets which included one Maiden wicket over.

Invincibles never looked threatening with bowling against Dynamites and Dynamites picked up easy win in just 6 overs.

Warriors start their journey with a win

Defending Champions Aananda Warriors started off their APL-6 journey with a comfortable win over Aananda Titans in the 4th League Match of the tournament.

Winning the toss, Aananda Titans chose to bat first against probably the best bowling attack in the league led by captain Yashpal Totlani.

With the all pace attack of Warriors, the Titans were blown away and could only manage to score 20 runs in their 8 overs. This was when the star bowler for Warriors Ananya Gupta was not even brought in to bowl.

Jaypal Pediwal had a good APL Debut giving away just 6 runs in his 2 overs and picking up the opener Harish Mukhija.

This target of 21 was chased down comfortably by Warriors with the loss of only 2 wickets in just 4 overs

Easy win for Game Swingers in a day of low scores

All 3 matches for the first Super Sunday of APL 6 were low scoring. In the 3rd match of the tournament, Aananda Game Swingers won the toss and opted to field first.

With some good tight bowling from Akash Nama, Challengers were restricted to just 28 runs in their 8 overs.

Game Swingers chased down this target quite easily in just 6.1 overs, despite some tight bowling by Dr. Himanshu Sharma. Akash Name made quick 17 runs with 2 sixes to finish off the chase early with Sahil Sharma hitting the crucial 6 to level the scores.

United Champs defeat Strikers one-sided

Captain Sapan Khandelwal‘s all round performance was the key behind United Champs winning their first match of APL 6 against Strikers.

Batting first, Aananda Strikers put up a decent score of 39 in their 8 overs. Captain Ankur Khandelwal remained unbeaten for 10 in the innings, which was restricted by some tight bowling by Hitendra Gautam, Bhavesh Soni and captain Sapan himself.

The target looked a very small one once Sapan got going. He hit 29 runs in just 14 balls with 4 sixes to his name. This innings from Sapan earned him the Man of the Match title and also chased down the target of 40 in just 4.4 overs setting up United Champs comfortably at the top of the table.

Blasters off to a rocking start

In the inaugural match of APL-6, Aananda Blasters defeated Aananda Spartans by 28 runs.

Aananda Blasters looked clinical with the return of their captain Ankit Stephen who sat out of all practice matches due to injury.

The captain’s return made a huge impact and after being put to bat first, Blasters scored 59 off their 8 overs with an explosive start from Abhay Sharma and Vinod Bihari Vyas.

Following up, the bowlers did well for Blasters to restrict Spartans for only 31 and the team was all out with 4 balls still remaining in the innings.

APL – 6 Opens with show of enthusiam

APL-6 is all set to entertain its viewers once again.

The tournament will be played from 24th September to 06th November 2022.

In it’s 6th edition, APL has become THE tournament to follow and be part of with over 140 men, 30 women, 20 kids and 20 seniors (60+ Age category) taking part in this.

On Saturday, the tournament’s opening ceremony was held at Manglam Aananda Box Cricket Ground which started with a team parade all around the society. Post parade, all teams gathered on the ground and the tournament was inaugurated by Bollywood actress Ms. Smitha Bansal.

The owners of the 12 cricket teams were felicitated during the program and a Thank You note was presented to all owners, captains and players for being part of such magnificent event.

The fun and excitement would continue for next 45 days.
